Castle Hayne

Castle Hayne, a suburb of greater Wilmington, offering enjoyable food whether it is southern style at the local Carolina Café or Famous Hotdogs at Paul's Place. You can relax and appreciate the country. Martin Marietta Quarry and Castle Hayne Farm are just a few of the industries that have made Castle Hayne their home. Downtown Wilmington and local area beaches are a quick drive away.

The quiet bedroom community of Castle Hayne doesn't have a history that's as sleepy as one would imagine. There really was a castle in the northeast portion of what is now New Hanover County, once owned by Captain Roger Haynes. Many folks don't know the history about the name of the town because the actual castle burned to the ground in the 1800's. In 1904, Hugh MacRae started Wilmington's first bedroom community, recruiting Dutch immigrants to settle and farm near the new Wilmington and Weldon Railroad Depot, bearing the name Castle Hayne.
